I feel kinda silly. I’ve been spending all this time working on edits, thinking that I would eventually post a whole series of photos at once. But why not post more frequently with pics as I finish them, showing you things as they progress? Continue reading

Yellowman played Liberty Island. It rained. They played two songs in a few minutes of sunshine. And then it poured. I spent the rest of the night chilling with the band…waiting for the next ferry off the island.
I thought someone was going to get hurt for sure. Continue reading →

June 9, 2011 by Edmond H LeePlanning Doing
Nothing gets done if you don’t do it. There’s a balance between spending time planning and spending time doing.
I’ve been reading a lot of blogs that talk about getting out into the world and doing things. I always think it’s a funny kind of post…basically telling the blog reader to stop reading and go outside and live life.
But I’m stuck inside planning some shoots and submitting quotes for different gigs. I’m beginning to miss shooting, but I got way too much post-processing to do. Cuz as much as it’s important for photogs to shoot, it’s also important for photogs to deliver and share. Life is always about balance.
I am thinking of giving free photog lessons again. The main reason I stopped giving lessons was because my friend Tim Kang was thinking of charging for lessons. But now that he and his wife have moved to LA for film school at AFI, I’m thinking of starting up my free lessons again. Let me know if you are interested. In the past, topics have included Photography 101 and Post-Processing. I’ve also been wanting to run a class/workshop on film (not motion film…I mean photographic film). But if you have something you want to learn…just speak up!
Tonight I’ll be covering Yellowman at the Boomer Esiason Foundation Refi Rock 2011 Spring Fling. The show is on Liberty Island (think Statue of Liberty). It’s gonna be awesome.
I will, of course, post pics of it here once they are ready. I’ll probably crank them out, so should be soon.

Finally. These photos are done. Or close to it. Maybe not. But done enough for now.
Tangent: Some poets believe you can finish a poem. Other poets believe a poem is never finished. It is always changing as the poet changes. It is never complete. Most poets I know are in the latter group, but do believe that a poem can be ‘complete enough’.
These photos are from the camping trip/photo shoot I organized last September. Continue reading →

We’re all works in progress…but in this case I’m talking about this blog.
Gonna be doing live work on it…so you might see bugs and strange screens and odd colors.
By the end of it, you might also need to re-subscribe to the RSS feed (if you subscribe to it already).
Well…good luck!

Spent last Saturday at home. It was nice and quiet.
Maybe the world shouldn’t leave me at home alone.
Especially not with my mannequin.

Just some random sightings…
Today’s morning commute was quiet, yet somewhat interesting. While getting on the Staten Island Ferry, I turned a corner and passed by around seven DHS agents, all with arms crossed as they surveyed the passengers. I thought that was a bit odd.

I’ve been continuing to keep myself busy with various things. I’m hoping to post a lot soon. I’m also working on revamping this blog and my portfolio site.
Something I’ve thought about in the past few weeks is how I am not always the best people person. Continue reading →

To say that I have been busy is an understatement.
Among the many other things on my plate, I am planning a big studio shoot with my friend Justin Ong on March 26. If you don’t know him, go check it out his stuff. It’s worth the few clicks to see his artful work.

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that I can be a really arrogant writer. Not that I think I’m the best writer. And yet it seems to me that as a poet, I’ve almost been trained to look down upon fiction writers. Perhaps I’m just bitter.
In any case, I have always had a great deal of respect for playwrights. Writing plays or even movie scripts is a whole other level of artistry. Definitely not like prose fiction writing.
